under german system of naturräume, stadtallendorf lies in west hesse depression zone (westhessische senkenzone) divided basins , ridges. respect these, town lies on upper hesse ridge separates amöneburg basin in west schwalmbecken (another basin) in east. on ridge may found neustadt saddle, abutted town s northeast edge. upland part of divide between rhine , weser watersheds.

stadtallendorf borders in north on town of rauschenberg (marburg-biedenkopf) , community of gilserberg (schwalm-eder-kreis), in east on town of neustadt, in southeast on town of kirtorf, in south on town of homberg (ohm) (both in vogelsbergkreis), , in west on towns of amöneburg , kirchhain (both in marburg-biedenkopf).
