2005–07: founding

in mid-2005 rocks working on music production, , doing rapping well. founded hip hop duo cool kids, when rocks still sixteen. met co-founder evan chuck inglish ingersoll on myspace in 2005, after rocks found beat ingersoll had produced. 2 met discuss terms of beat s sale, , ended recording 2 hours. stated inglish, 1 day met up--i came on house cds, , s wrote. both, like, searching each other without searching each other. discovered common influences (outkast, gorillaz, , 1980s hip hop) , shared sense of retro fashion.

2009–11: albums

the group s second official mixtape, gone fishing released on may 5, 2009. new mixtape called tacklebox came out on may 31, 2010. tacklebox assembled la leakers, , featured new singles , leftovers when fish ride bicycles, freestyles both members of cool kids. band received offer dj a-trak sign fool s gold records label, did 1 single in 2011, titled gold , pager.

their debut studio album, when fish ride bicycles, released july 12, 2011 on green label sound. album had been slated release in 2009, delayed legal issues chocolate industries. album features production neptunes , features artists such bun b, chip tha ripper, , ghostface killah. album peaked @ no. 76 on billboard 200, , no. 9 on top rap albums. album s song little bit cooler used in valuable puppets commercial nike lebron james , kobe bryant entitled mrs. lewis.

2010–11: new groups

the cool kids members of hip-hop collective city chess club founded in 2010. in 2010, mikey rocks teamed chuck inglish, gary, indiana s freddie gibbs , cleveland s chip tha ripper form super group p.o.c. (pulled on cops). crew had first worked on 2010 track oil money freddie gibbs, , kept working afterwards. first single, authority , produced blended babies , featured singer nate santos. around 2011 rocks co-founded toothpick clique friends tris j , shorty k, collaborators teenage years. working on new material of 2012.

2011–13: solo mixtapes

in 2011 both rocks , inglish began working on solo material separate cool kids. however, continued each other on various projects , continued tour band. on march 14, 2011 sir michael rocks released debut solo album, rocks report mixtape, featured twenty 5 original songs , skits. guest appearances include , mibbs of pac div, sir charles, , trademark da skydiver, production ski beatz, madlib, , others.

this mixtape followed on october 2, 2011 premier politics. album features sixteen tracks rocks doing of writing on all. production process, rocks stated didn’t take long because i’m studio rat, i’ll in lab 2 weeks straight, 10 hours day, , grind out non-stop. number of different producers besides rocks contributed, including alchemist. released collection of sweatshirts , t-shirts release of premier politics, promoting various independent designers.

on october 23, 2011, announced rocks joined forces independent label jet life recordings, warner bros. imprint owned fellow rap artist curren$y, rocks had first had befriended on myspace around 2008. rocks appeared featured artist on number of albums released label. in 2011, included 1st place (featuring currensy, trademark da skydiver, young roddy & mikey rocks), appeared on album jet world order. rocks toured in late 2011 on smoker s club tour, featured curren$y, method man, smoke dza , big k.r.i.t. while working on solo material continued work on music cool kids.
