camp commandants included ss-standartenführer günther tamaschke may 1939 august 1939, ss-hauptsturmführer max koegel january 1940 till august 1942, , ss-hauptsturmführer fritz suhren august 1942 until camp s liberation @ end of april 1945.


besides male nazi administrators, camp staff included on 150 female ss guards assigned oversee prisoners @ point during camp s operational period. ravensbrück served training camp on 4,000 female overseers. technical term female guard in nazi camp aufseherin. women either stayed in camp or served in other camps.
