Life Felix Draeseke

felix draeseke born in franconian ducal town of coburg, germany. attracted music in life , wrote first composition @ age 8. encountered no opposition family when, in mid-teens, declared intention of becoming professional musician. few years @ leipzig conservatory did not seem benefit development, after 1 of performances of wagner s lohengrin won camp of new german school centered on franz liszt @ weimar, stayed 1856 (arriving after joachim raff s departure) 1861. in 1862 draeseke left germany , made way switzerland, teaching in suisse romande in area around lausanne. upon return germany in 1876, draeseke chose dresden place of residence. though continued having success in composition, in 1884 received official appointment dresden conservatory and, it, financial security. in 1894, 2 years after promotion professorship @ royal saxon conservatory, @ age of 58, married former pupil frida neuhaus. in 1912 completed final orchestral work, fourth symphony. on 26 february 1913 draeseke suffered stroke , died; buried in tolkewitz cemetery in dresden.
