karl heine born in leipzig, owner of neuscherbitz estate, johann carl friedrich heine, , wife christiana dorothea, née reichel (1781–1857). attended thomasschule zu leipzig, public boarding school in leipzig. later studied law @ university of leipzig - member of corps saxonia leipzig fraternity. received doctorate on economic use of waterways , shores according saxon state law. later, established himself barrister in leipzig .


after death of grandfather e.t. reichel (1748–1832), karl heine bought shares of reichel s garden heir, took these pieces of land , medial of 19th century on, gradually built today inner western suburb of leipzig.


in 1854, heine expanded estate in gemeinde plagwitz district of leipzig; in 1856, began construction of first section of navigable canal connecting rivers weisse elster , saale, today bears name (karl-heine-kanal). excavation of canal reclaimed later become western suburb of leipzig. institute plans construction , industrialization, heine established economy in plagwitz.


when western suburb connected gemeinde plagwitz, heine constructed plagwitzer straße (today named käthe-kollwitz-straße), street south of old highway leipzig lindenau, ran parallel new street. against opposition of leipzig council, built plagwitz bridge, connected leipziger straße in plagwitz (today: karl-heine-straße).


karl heine member of saxon diet 1870 death. representative in leipzig city council.


in 1874, moved newly built villa in neuschleußig (karl-heine-villa, könneritzstraße 1), resided until death.


in 1876, construction scheme approved encompassed merging karl heine s meadows , fields in northern part of schleußig (neuschleußig) bernhard hüffer s (1824–1904) estate , extensive undeveloped forest land. these areas designated new residential areas.


on may 24, 1888, heine founded westend-baugesellschaft, construction company, continue work in developing leipzig economy after death.


since 1854, karl heine had been member of leipzig masonic lodge apollo. died on august 25, 1888, aged 69, in leipzig.
