the turbine hall named large retired steam turbine days pge power plant. features exhibits engineering, physics, chemistry, , space travel. turbine hall has 2 floors. on main floor large exhibits , enrichment areas. on mezzanine there smaller exhibits.


the innovation station includes hands-on exhibits related technology , invention. laboratories physics, chemistry, technology, , laser holography connected turbine hall.


the chemistry lab first hands-on wet chemistry laboratory in nation. there 6 stations allow visitors learn chemical interactions participating in experiments share common theme. themes rotate weekly , include chemistry of toys, nature of matter, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, industrial chemistry, chemical reactions, everyday chemistry, , crime scene chemistry. chemical reaction demonstrations given daily , related weekly theme.


physics lab exhibits include van de graaff generator (a static electricity generator), motion detectors, electrical circuits, morse code, magnets, computers simulate basic properties of physics, , musical instruments.


the laser/holography lab, open approximately 1 hour every day, presents 30-minute demonstrations constructing hologram.


the vernier technology lab investigates impact of technology on society. rotating interactive exhibits allow visitors investigate technologies such robots , computers, security technology, biomedical technology, communications technology, , household technology. visitors can use wide variety of educational software on internet-connected computers.
