at present, see has 233 staff , faculty members, of 61 professors (including 36 doctoral advisors, 1 yangtze river scholar, 2 china national funds distinguished young scholars, 1 national science fund excellent young scholars , 3 humboldt scholars), , 58 associate professors.the school has 3859 students (including 85 ph.d students, 964 postgraduates , 2810 undergraduates).

after half century of construction, sise (sse) forms practical, ambitious, rigorous , realistic academic spirit , makes great achievements in teaching, research , other aspects. there 185 staff , faculty in school, of 130 teachers, including 40 professors (23 doctoral supervisors), 58 associate professors, 98 teachers doctorates. there considerable number of teachers experience of studying abroad. school has 87 doctoral degree candidates, 736 master s degree candidates, , 2580 undergraduates.

sise (sse) getting more attention scientific , technological innovation activities of students , series of incentive prizes. in recent years, 59 innovative experimental projects undertaken students, including 17 national , provincial level, 42 scholastic level.

students have won awards @ national, provincial student technology competitions of levels. won thirteenth challenge cup national special award in 2013’s national college extracurricular scientific works competition; , 4accessits in 2011’s , 2013’s national electronic design contest; in addition, awards won in chinese university biological networking innovation , entrepreneurship contest, national robotics championship, google students software invention contest, , computer application contest of 5 provinces of north china .

at present, there total of 3918 students in sme, including 2394 undergraduate students, 1339 master students , 185 phd students.

the school has been highly recognised in research communities of non-equilibrium phase transition, preparation of metastable materials, design, syntheses , physical properties of new metastable materials, bulk metastable glasses , nano-scaled magnetic materials, preparation methods of metallic materials containing metastable phases. in last 5 years, more 980 papers published in highly recognised journals such nature, phys. rev. lett., , j. amer. chem. soc., , 37 patents issued.

the school enrols 1201 students including 753 undergraduates, 310 master students, , 138 phd students. programs aim @ cultivating highly qualified students virtues , personalities. since 2007, on 50% undergraduates in school enrolled graduate programs.
