2012 election

in october 2011, announced run congress, didn t know @ time district run in because nevada state legislature hadn t finished redistricting maps. decided run in newly created 4th district, includes northern portion of clark county, or part of rural counties of lincoln, white pine, nye, esmeralda, mineral, , douglas. however, bulk of district s population in clark county, , president barack obama have carried 56 percent of vote had existed in 2008.


horsford due face former state representative john lee in democratic primary. however, lee dropped out in november, handing nomination horsford. defeated republican danny tarkanian in november 50%–42%. although tarkanian won rural counties in district margins of better 2-to-1, horsford carried clark county, home four-fifths of district s vote, 28,800 votes.


2014 election

horsford defeated republican challenger cresent hardy on november 4, 2014.


tenure

horsford s two-year term began on january 3, 2013. member of house progressive caucus, , member supported september 30, 2013, continuing resolution contained one-year delay of affordable care act s individual mandate.
