history
the beginning

the basketball section of boca juniors created in 1929, requesting affiliation association rejected. in 1930 club registered federación argentina de básquet (the body governed basketball in argentina then) junior teams took part of competitions. results encouraged club continue participating in league. in 1934 team debuted @ second division finishing 2nd.

in 1936 dissident association, asociación de básquet de buenos aires created. organized own championships 1936 1973 when later merge federación argentina again. boca played tournaments held abba becoming 1 of successful teams during decades of 1940s, 1950s , 1960s.

on 27 november 1938 boca juniors played united states team amateur athletic union @ luna park of buenos aires. boca won match 38-33 being first victory achieved argentine basketball team on north american side. line-up josé giuliano, víctor di vita, pedro aizcorbe, carlos stropiana y roberto contini.

the all-star team

during decade of 1940s, boca played in torneo apertura (organized aba) , in torneo metropolitano (since 1951) best ranked teams both leagues, aba , fba, took part.

during decade of 1940, boca nicknamed el equipo de las estrellas ( all-stars team in spanish). during years boca won 1938 , 1939 apertura championships , campeonato oficial in 1940 , 1941, of them organized abba. roster was: pedro aizcorbe, daniel anglés, elías bissio, roberto contini, alberto dayán, víctor di vita, josé giuliano, carlos induni, felipe mattianich, mario mattioni, pedro rodríguez , carlos stroppiana. nevertheless, boca did not got other championship until middle of 1950s.

in 1951 new championship, torneo metropolitano created. competition joined teams both rival leagues, federación argentina , asociación de buenos aires. form more competitive team, boca hired rosarian players enrique borda , bernardo schime, acquiring rubén petrilli. andrés naranjito rossi coach. despite having lost first 6 games, boca finished in 4th position in 1955 tournament. in 1957, addition of notable players such josé olivera, josé novoa , luis pérez, boca won 1957 , 1959 metropolitano championships , runner-up in 1958. team runner-up in 1958 , 1958.

after tenure of rossi coach, abelardo dasso replaced him. under coaching, boca juniors achieved significant success, winning during 3 consecutive years (1961, 1962 , 1963) tournaments disputed: oficial, apertura , metropolitano championships. during period, squad played total of 93 games, winning 89.

boca juniors continued successful path, winning 1964 apertura , 1965, 1966 , 1967 oficial championships.

boca won metropolitano title in 1969 , oficial championship in 1970, defeating lanús 91–76 @ river plate arena. frequent line-up juan carlos mazzini, néstor delguy, adalberto gusso, emilio dumani, juan tito, jesús díaz, enrique borda coach.

boca played 1984 season, last before creation of liga nacional de básquet, although severe crisis of club caused team went off competition few days before beginning of tournament. boca made effort play in second division in 1986 association did not allow team participate boca had play @ last division, regional c. team promoted liga b same year.

in 1988 boca promoted liga a, team debuted 1 year later. boca juniors did not make campaign relegated liga b, team promoted again in 1990. @ top level again, in 1996 boca juniors inaugurated first stadium built practise of basketball, named luis conde (mostly known la bombonerita ) in honour of dead manager of club. same year boca won first title in liga nacional (defeating independiente (gp) @ finals. team roster was: byron wilson, jerome mincy, ariel bernardini, luis villar, sebastián festa, gabriel fernández, claudio farabello, gustavo fernández, diego prego, claudio chiappero, sebastián acosta, esteban acosta, fernando oyarzún , ariel eslava. julio lamas coach.

that first achievement in modern era succeeded second championship in 2003–04 (being rival @ finals gimnasia y esgrima (lp)). successful era continued, winning third title in 2006–07 against peñarol (mdp). apart domestic league, boca disputed copa argentina de básquetbol, winning title in 2002 (inaugural season), 2003, 2004, 2005 , 2006 (five consecutive times). @ international level, boca won 3 campeonato sudamericano de clubes in 2004, 2005 , 2006 (three consecutive achievements).

for 2009–10 season, boca signed sponsorship agreement chaco based aerochaco airlines, contributed us$500,000 club s professional basketball team. part of agreement, boca played in liga nacional under name aerochaco boca juniors , , played of matches in city of resistencia.
