the beatification process received approval of congregation causes of saints on 19 june 1980 , granted claret title servant of god in order initiate first stage of process. diocesan process in barcelona opened in 1982 , closed on 25 april 1990 after decade of collating documentation , investigating claret s life. documentation sent in boxes rome on 26 march 1993 , received validation roman officials; allowed postulation submit positio in 1997 in order further investigations begin.


theologians met , approved cause on 5 april 2005 , c.c.s. followed suit on 1 june 2004. allowed pope john paul ii proclaim claret venerable on 22 june 2004.


the miracle required beatification investigated in diocese of origin in process spanned 2 march 1990 until 29 october 1991; documents , testimonies submitted roman officials ratification , received in 2000. john paul ii approved healing miracle on 22 june 2004 - @ same time made claret venerable - , beatified claret in loreto on 5 september 2004.
