on october 1, area of convection developed 500 km (310 mi) seychelles @ low latitude. moving southwestward, system organized tropical disturbance a1 on october 2, first of season. small central dense overcast subsequently developed on circulation. ridge south steered disturbance westward, bringing north of farquhar group. on october 5, disturbance intensified tropical depression, reaching peak winds of 55 km/h (35 mph). subsequently, increased wind shear dissipated convection rapidly weakening depression passed north of madagascar. on october 7, circulation dissipated. there 2 other disturbances between october , late november.


there tropical disturbance in first 2 weeks of january before dorina formed. later in month, itcz spawned area of convection in northern mozambique channel near comoros. circulation formed within system on january 20 near western coast of madagascar, becoming tropical depression. day, meteorological service of madagascar named system eliceca, depression moved inland , dissipated. 2 disturbances formed in february after development of heida , before ingrid formed.


the itcz later produced disturbance northeast of rodrigues after kylie dissipated on march 14. intensified tropical depression moved southwestward. due threat rodrigues, mauritius meteorological service named depression lidy on march 15, although wind shear in region prevented further strengthening. produced gusty winds while passing near rodrigues on march 16, , subsequently looped near island. convection lidy produced 200 mm (7.9 in) of rainfall, causing flooding in areas on rodrigues. rains caused erosion , damage on island of storm in season. later, lidy drifted west in trade winds, dissipating on march 20 north of réunion. after lidy, there 1 final non-developing disturbance.
