State Assemblies Malaysian general election, 1999



the opposition won total of 113 state assembly seats, 98 of went pas, 11 dap , 4 keadilan. in states of kelantan , terengganu, pas won huge margin–41-2 against barisan nasional out of total of 43 seats , 28-4 out of total of 32 seats respectively, hence allowing them form state governments in these states. in addition, pas captured one-third of state seats in kedah, remaining two-thirds going barisan nasional (umno won 16 seats, mca 2 seats in kedah).


the election results seen great gain pas, had no state seats in kedah , capturing 1 seat in terengganu in 1995 general elections. observers attributed negelect federal administration in states of terengganu , kelantan.
