he died in 1855 , taken dorking burial @ west norwood cemetery on 27 december 1855.


after death, queen victoria said, in sphere of life, immense business had in hand, real national loss. better, kindhearted or more simple, unassuming man never breathed.


another statue of cubitt can seen in dorking, opposite dorking halls, favoured there architecture on denbies estate.


in 1883 business acquired holland & hannen, leading competitor, , combined business became known holland & hannen , cubitts , subsequently holland, hannen & cubitts.


restaurants, pubs , other places have been named in honour of him.
