the first freeway in texas several-mile stretch of 75 (now i-45)--the gulf freeway, opened houston traffic on october 1, 1948. stretch of 75 between interstate 30 , oklahoma state line has exits numbered consecutively 1 75 (with occasional , b designations), excluding 9-19. other texas freeways have exit numbers coordinated mile markers.
