the dropouts comic strip created post , syndicated united features syndicate 1968 1981. post began strip @ same time comic book anthro canceled. premise of dropouts variation on stranded on desert island gag. 2 main characters, alf , sandy, indeed castaways, island hardly deserted: 1 of strips running gags how closely natives society resembled western civilization. other characters, natives, included one-man police force, doctor , chef running cafe inedible food. there other western characters, including religious zealot, angry feminist , disheveled alcoholic, chugalug.
