three-way tie division or wildcard

if 3 teams have identical records against each other in regular season, office of commissioner conducts draw teams designated teams a, b, , c. first, team plays team b team home team. following day, winner of game plays team c team c away team. winner of game on second day advances playoffs. team designations determined follows:



if teams not have identical records against 1 another, , 1 team has best record against both other teams, , team has winning record against final team, first team shall first pick of team designation, second team gets second pick, , last team assigned remaining designation.
if 1 team has better record against both of other teams, , 2 other teams have same record against each other, first team first pick team designation, , other teams draw lots. winner of draw second pick, , loser of draw assigned remaining designation.
if 2 teams have same record against each other, , both have better record last team, first 2 teams draw lots, winner choosing designation first, loser of draw picking designation second , final team being assigned remaining designation.
if each team has winning record against 1 other team in 3 team group, , losing record against other team in 3 team group, priority choosing designations shall chosen based on overall winning percentage within 3 team group, ties in winning percentage within 3 team group broken drawing lots.

mixed three-way tie

the situation may arise 2 teams same division tied division championship, tied team different division, team not having best record in division, having better record of other non-division winners.


in case 2 teams in same division play one-game playoff, winner declared division champion. next day, loser of first game, , other team other division play each other, winner declared wildcard.

if there three-way tie among division champions, team best record against both of other division champion given top seed remaining teams seeded follows:



if neither team has better record against other teams, go above tiebreaker.
