us 175 begins south of downtown dallas @ interchange interstate 45 south of interstate 30, cesar chavez boulevard, , good-latimer expressway. @ point, 175 6 lanes in width (three westbound, 3 eastbound). highway heads towards southeast freeway carrying moniker of s.m. wright freeway (it named south central expressway in section).


at interchange state highway 310 (known locally dead man s curve), 175 begins head east, taking name c.f. hawn freeway, while s.m. wright freeway name follows sh 310. freeway continues east along north edge of rochester park, through lowlands include crossing of white rock creek, until turns southeast @ interchange @ second avenue (a previous routing of 175) , bruton road; point 175 maintains consistent southeasterly direction.


us 175 passes through pleasant grove area of dallas past interchange loop 12 (buckner blvd.), few miles later, interstate 20 southwest of i-20 , interstate 635 interchange/split. highway continues freeway past i-20 interchange, briefly crosses , out of balch springs. @ point, 175 narrows 6 lanes 4 (two westbound, 2 eastbound). after few miles, 175 leaves dallas after woody road exit goes city of seagoville. portion of route through seagoville last urban portion before 175 s surroundings become more suburban , rural.

on far side of seagoville, 175 passes kaufman county , descends valley includes land overseen john bunker sands wetland center , crossing of east fork of trinity river. river marks city limit boundary between seagoville , crandall.


after rising out of valley area, highway goes through crandall intersecting farm market road 741 (which connects crandall forney), passing center of town, , exit, farm market road 148 (connecting crandall terrell). few miles later, rural interchange county road 4104-bud stoy road marks city limit border of crandall , kaufman. freeway continues kaufman past wide right curve @ state highway 243 interchange, passes brief urban section @ business state highway 34 (washington street) exit. after mile, exit state highway 34 comes along.


after exit, 175 loses freeway characteristics continues four-lane divided highway. highway proceeds several miles before approaching kemp. here bypass takes 175 around north , east of town, while first of 3 business routes of 175 goes through kemp along 175 s previous routing in area. after bypass makes way past freeway-style exit @ state highway 274 (which forms east end of business 175), 175 leaves main part of kemp.


the highway continues divided four-lane road past 2 multi-bridge spans of cedar creek reservoir. between 2 spans city limit border between kemp , mabank. after second span of lake, 175 begins bypassing main part of mabank while 175 business route serves through-town portion along previous routing of highway. 1 part of 175 along bypass freeway-style, @ interchange state highway 198. highway leaves kaufman county before completing bypass of mabank.


henderson county

us 175 enters county approaches at-grade intersection east end of business 175. highway continues being divided 4 lanes. rural at-grade intersection county road marks city limit border between mabank , gun barrel city, 175 approaches freeway-style interchange state highway 334. state highway connects main portion of gun barrel city west, , last major road connecting 175 cedar creek reservoir.

after interchange, 175 leaves city limits of gun barrel city, , within mile, enters city limits of eustace. afterward, highway narrows undivided four-lane road left-turn lane. 175 approaches first signal light @ intersection of farm market road 316, comes eustace south; intersection beginning of brief overlap of 2 roads near center of town. fm 316 s overlap concludes after 4 short blocks turning left @ signal-lighted intersection go north out of eustace. 175 continues out of eustace , goes on mile or before becoming divided once again 4 lanes. once out of eustace, 175 s speed limit goes 75 mph (120 km/h), highest maximum speed of segment of highway.



just northwest of athens, picnic area can found west of rm 2329 intersection.


us 175 continues southeast several more miles, passes 1 of 2 state-maintained roadside picnic areas. intersection ranch market road 2329 comes right afterward, within mile, 175 enters city limits of athens. few more miles later, divided roadway narrows again, undivided four-lane road left-turn lane. after mile, 175 intersects loop 7; begins bypassing athens turning left , overlapping loop (as state highway 31, bypasses athens way of loop). @ same intersection, last of 175 s 3 business routes goes athens, along previous routing of 175. portion of route carrying 175, sh 31, , loop 7 four-lane highway left turn lane. on north side of athens, highway intersects state highway 19 grade-separated exit; south-bound sh 19 bypasses athens merging 175, sh 31, , loop 7 here while north-bound sh 19 turns left go away athens, , business route of sh 19 begins here go south main part of town.

the 4 routes continue around athens eastward past at-grade intersection farm market road 1616. sh 31 turns away four-route overlap @ next exit; leaves turning left (northeast) toward tyler, while business route of sh 31 turns right @ exit go athens. 175, sh 19, , loop 7 continue overlap around east edge of athens, past grade-separated exit of farm market road 2495. road connects lake athens , texas freshwater fisheries center. short distance later, 175 turns away sh 19 , loop 7 @ next exit; 175 goes left return southeastward path, , east end of business 175 found @ exit turning right exit intersection.


the roadway 175 takes after leaving loop , southeast side of athens once again divided four-lane. after few miles, 175 intersects farm market road 804 in community of baxter. less mile after fm 804, , after passing county road intersection, 175 goes 4 lanes in width quite narrow two-lane road limited sight distances. @ top of hill, second , last roadside picnic area maintained state alongside 175 can found. couple more miles onward intersection loop 60 in community of larue. signage @ at-grade turn left points eventual intersection farm market road 607. short distance later intersection ranch market road 2588, on south side of larue. after intersection, overpass bridge briefly takes 175 , on abandoned railroad right-of-way. intersection loop 60 follows overpass.


leaving vicinity of larue, , after few miles, lapoynor consolidated school campus can found on left side of highway; includes school zone speed limit of 35 mph (55 km/h). mile past school campus, @ county road crossing, city limits town of poynor. posted speeds slow 45 mph (70 km/h) before reaching center of town, includes brief downtown-style area, , intersection farm market road 315. signal blinking yellow lights posted @ intersection.

at point, 175 becomes part of texas forest trail, 1 of several posted regional byways across state. trail wanders around several protected forest areas , scenic spots around eastern texas. mile further, 175 reaches city limit border on east side of poynor, leaves henderson county around mile after that.


anderson county

us 175 enters county going narrow two-lane condition better two-lane width includes shoulders on each side of road. after few miles, 175 s first climbing lane encountered in westbound lane of highway @ crest of hill; spans less half mile.


going down same hill, 175 crosses city limit line of frankston. after half mile, roadway widens 4 lanes @ beginning of urban portion of town. 175 goes name of pine street in frankston. few blocks after entering town, business district can seen, frankston s downtown area south of 175. here highway intersects state highway 155, other major highway serves vicinity of frankston. there full signal light @ intersection left-turn lane on each approach. intersection marks end of 175 s segment of texas forest trail; here, turns north follow sh 155. after sh 155, , on hill, 175 leaves urban portion of frankston , four-lane section narrows 2 lanes.


the east city limits of frankston crossed in less 2 more miles. assortment of hills, climbing lanes, , gentle curves encountered on highway. @ top of hill east of frankston intersection farm market road 1892; road connects south end of lake palestine near dam. after gradual downward slope , @ bottom of hill, bridge crossing of neches river reached; point 175 leaves anderson county.

cherokee county

after bridge span on neches river, , short distance later, 175 reaches west city limit border of cuney. there not of town center besides city hall , post office, scattered stores, modest homes, , church along way. after crossing east city limit border of cuney, 175 comes intersection farm market road 855.


a left curve ahead, 175 enters community of reese. there 2 cemeteries, 1 on each side of highway, homes , acreages in community. upon leaving reese, there curve in road right, slight ascent long hillside, climbing lane eastbound. @ top of hill , around wide right curve, 175 approaches cove springs. community similar reese homes , acreages alongside highway.


as 175 departs cove springs, descends long hillside climbing lane on westbound side. county road intersection @ top of next hill leads south community of church hill. 175 descends down longer hill, , slight right curve intersection county road 3405, leads north. site of killough monument can accessed way of same road.

after mile, county road turns off right toward community of lakeview. short hill ahead features climbing lanes in both directions. after mile or so, 175 approaches city limit border on northwest side of jacksonville. part of 175 in jacksonville known frankston street. between city limits , next street intersection, pineda street, elementary school on right, special lower school zone speed.


a signal light after 3 blocks marks intersection farm market road 347 (north bolton street). final 3 blocks, 175 changes street names alexander boulevard , widens 4 lanes left turn lane, wide berms beyond sides of street, separating neighborhoods north , south. signal light ahead marks intersection u.s. highway 69 (north jackson street); point marks 175 s eastern terminus.
