anolis podocarpus medium-sized lizard snout-to-vent length of 96 mm (3.8 in) , slender tail more twice long. females smaller males. forelimbs short , hind limbs twice long. there 5 digits on forefeet , 4 long digits on hind feet. digits have toepads overlap first phalange. both sexes have large dewlap extends behind forelimbs. dewlap has 2 5 (usually 3 or four) longitudinal rows of minute granular scales separated bare skin. colouring of lizard variable. males yellowish-green or green 7 brown bands on dorsal surface, large dark spot on shoulder , limbs , tail banded transversely in dark brown. ventral surface yellowish-green or yellow, dewlap reddish brown , ventral side of hind limbs cream reddish-brown reticulations. females similar have greenish head blue tongue, , basal colour of body blackish-brown. there cream vertebral stripe, dewlap purplish-brown , ventral surface darker in males. species closely resembles anolis fitchi differs in arrangement of scales on dewlap , size of dewlap, of a. podocarpus being smaller.
