the bengal renaissance refers social reform movement during 19th , 20th centuries in bengal during period of british rule. bengal renaissance can said have started raja ram mohan roy (1775–1833) , ended rabindranath tagore (1861–1941). bengal in 19th century unique blend of religious , social reformers, scholars, literary giants, journalists, patriotic orators , scientists, merging form image of renaissance, , marked transition medieval modern . bangladeshi people proud of national poet kazi nazrul islam. remembered active voice against oppression of british rulers in 20th century. imprisoned writing famous poem of bidrohee .
