history
founding , first album

in 2002, russ rankin found himself ill-at-ease situation of other band riddance. band did not play frequently, , rankin wanted tour more. set out form band more active , pursue drug/alcohol-free aesthetics , lifestyle.


while touring riddance, russ became friends aaron dalbec band bane. when russ asked him play guitar in new band, aaron agreed. zach blair , brother doni blair joined because bands, including hagfish, less active wanted.


when russ in blasting room riddance record bound ties of blood , affection, asked producer bill stevenson - legendary drummer of seminal punk bands black flag, descendents, , - drummer in new project. band recorded five-song demo in 2003, sent out labels. in february 2004, band worked on new material , recording more demos send prospective labels. played first show on february 15, 2004 @ starlight in ft. collins, co. signed fat wreck chords april 2004. played shows dropkick murphys in april , may, , played on warped tour dates summer. debut album, nines, released in july 2004.


second album , line-up changes

on january 23, 2007, crime released second album, virulence, on fat wreck chords, followed split ep outbreak, released june 26, 2007 on think fast! records.


in february 2007, zach blair had joined rise against. shortly after, announced no longer in crime , replaced modern life war guitarist matt hoffman.


bassist doni blair played last show band on august 15, 2007 in kansas city, before leaving spend more time family , pursue instrumental project, mag 7 (also bill stevenson). temporarily replaced zack busby (burden brothers), , permanently replaced dan kelly (the frisk)


third album

the band started working on third album in 2009, band ended getting put on hold while due stevenson being sick. in april 2013, rankin claimed third album had been finished , released in 2013. in march 2014, announced album being released. titled pursuance, released rise records on may 13, 2014.
