in may 1983, less year after introduction, cervo received light facelift. in light of new regulations, wing mirrors moved doors , screw holes on fenders covered up. mechanical changes light: adjusted cam profile, compression rate upped 9,7:1 (previously 9,5), egr , catalytic converter improved , engine received automatic choke , transistor ignition. power remained 29 ps (21 kw). there radial tired versions introduced, , disc brakes top-of-the-line cs-g. lineup received overhaul, looking follows:
there cs-m / cs-qm special edition (based on cs-d) in either all-white or all-red paint scheme black-and-red interior (¥633,000 / ¥673,000). cs-g aimed @ more masculine clientele, , first ss40 cervo use male models in advertising. cs-f had high 5th gear , offered 5% gas mileage improvement on other cervos.
an sportier version appeared in november 1983, when ct , ct-g turbo versions offered. f5a turbo suzuki s first forced induction car engine , produced 40 ps (29 kw) , useful 54 n·m (40 lb·ft). received electronic carburetor , lower compression rate of 8,6:1. five-speed manual transmission available, , front disc brakes standard. ct weighed in @ 560 kg (1,235 lb), prices ¥748,000 , ¥898,000 respectively. two-tone red-and-black interior , dummy hood scoop added turbo s sporty looks, while ct-g received rev counter. top speed has been quoted @ 135 km/h (84 mph).
in january 1985 minor facelift occurred, new, more comfortable seats , new front grille. interior sported more fabric, improved manual shifter , half-leather steering wheel on ct-g. side mirrors mounted in corner between door , a-pillar, rather on door itself. ct-g received body colored bumpers , mirrors, optional on lesser versions. power output 31 ps (23 kw), due new carburetor. top speed according german auto katalog five, 120 km/h (75 mph). lineup consisted of ct-g (sporty turbo), cs-g (sporty na), cs-d / cs-qd ( deluxe versions - vinyl rear seat nonetheless) , cs / cs-q (standard version).
with kei car sales shrinking overall , cervo losing market share, sales dropping precipitously. in february 1987 second-generation cervo received third , final update. turbo discontinued , lineup rationalized 2 versions, sporty cs-g 5-speed manual , lower grade cs-d either 4-speed manual or 2-speed automatic. further rationalization, models had roll-type safety belts (hitherto, cs , cs-d versions had come fixed belts), front disc brakes , air conditioning.
by january 1988, new cervo had been presented , ss40c discontinued shortly thereafter. due lesser sales, ss40c never received many technical improvements alto sister model. alto turbo gained fuel injection , other technologies, ostensibly sporty cervo had make carburetted 40 ps (29 kw). these days, many cervo owners modify cars bolting on parts later altos, making cervo live sporty appearance.
