ihe i-244 bridges have reached end of service lives. westbound bridge closed , demolition begun in june 2011. demolition 85% complete of august 1. demolished structure replaced double-deck, multimodal span. top deck carry vehicles, , lower deck have pedestrian way , 2 railroad tracks (to added in future). completion scheduled 2013. extreme care has been used during demolition avoid vibrations might further damage historic 11th street bridge.
