the curtain rises on warm evening in india, centuries in past. in front of rock temple, pool seen lotus on surface of water. snakes, tortoises, , other animals rest near pool. temple walls covered masses of flowering plants.


a crowd waiting ceremony begin. young man become priest of temple. young girl runs in , kneels @ feet. not want him desert priesthood , dances before him. priests shocked , lead young man away while young girl prepared death.


the gates shut. young girl tries escape, monsters rise place beneath trap door. goddess rises lotus. blue god rises pool, , calms monsters flute. monsters trapped masses of plants. blue god s work done.


the priests enter. surprised see young girl still alive , fall on knees before her. young man rejoins young girl. goddess orders golden staircase descend heavens. blue god flies staircase , disappears clouds.
