development , release

the game announced on may 9, 2005 unreal tournament 2007 2006 release. in august 2006, game delayed until first half of 2007. in january 2007, game renamed unreal tournament 3. original unreal tournament uses first unreal engine, while ut2003 , ut2004 use unreal engine 2. since 2004 incorporates of content 2003, regarded part of same generation. ut3 third generation, runs on unreal engine 3 , not reuse content.


windows version

a limited collector s edition of game features exclusive collector s edition tin , hardcover art book. bonus dvd included, featuring more twenty hours of unreal engine 3 tool kit video tutorials, history of unreal tournament series, , behind-the-scenes footage of making of unreal tournament 3. limited collector s edition sold in united states, canada, latin america, europe, south africa, australia , other territories.


playstation 3 version

the playstation 3 version supports community-made mods can uploaded , downloaded ps3 s hdd or external media, mouse , keyboard inputs. 1.1 patch released on march 21, 2008. adds ability players using north american , european versions play together, fixes problems usb headsets, , displays lowest pinging servers @ top of server list. updates applied on north american version, since pal version released in march 2008 partially updated. 2.0 patch released on march 5, 2009, , adds better pc mod support, split screen, smarter ai, forty 8 attainable trophies, server-side improvements, improved map vote, local multiplayer, , new user interface. online , lan multiplayer version terminated on july 2014, following shutdown of gamespy servers.


xbox 360 version

upon release, xbox 360 version had 5 exclusive maps, 2 exclusive characters, two-player split screen mode, , downloadable content released epic on disc. release of ps3 , pc titan upgrade patch on march 5, these versions offered formerly exclusive xbox 360 content, other content. xbox 360 version not support user-generated mods, additional content has verified microsoft before being released. version support controllers only.


cancelled linux , mac os x versions

the linux , mac os x versions of game planned released downloadable installers work retail disc. ryan c. gordon has uploaded screenshots of game, dating september 2008, running on both platforms. on may 22, 2009, ryan stated ut3 port linux still in process. on december 16, 2010, steve polge announced linux port never released, making first unreal tournament game not released on linux.


soundtrack

unreal tournament 3: soundtrack based on original unreal tournament score, composed straylight productions , michiel van den bos. jesper kyd , rom di prisco remixed many of ut99 s tracks , composed several other original tracks, released on november 20, 2007 sumthing else. sandhya sanjana featured guest vocalist. kevin riepl did contribute in music production game, scoring cutscenes few in-game music tracks.


titan pack , black edition

on march 5, 2009, free update titled titan pack released pc; ps3 version of pack released on march 19, 2009. pack includes 5 maps , 2 characters formerly exclusive xbox 360 version, along eleven brand new maps, 2 new game modes ( greed , betrayal ), , titan mutator. titan mutator causes player grow in size better, while carrying alternative weapons , power ups. expansion includes new power up, new vehicle, 2 new deployables, , addition of stinger turrets. new patch released in conjunction titan pack, allowed various ai improvements (especially in vehicle modes), networking performance upgrades , added support steam achievements (pc) , trophies (ps3). adds 2 player split screen mode (formerly exclusive 360 version) , mod browsing ps3 version.


the black edition complete unreal tournament 3 package—included complete ut3 (with patch 2.0) titan pack. titan pack gives players substantial amount of enhanced features , new content, including many original environments, new gametypes, namesake titan mutator, powerful deployables , weapons, new characters, , stealthbender vehicle.
