in 1919, river clyde refloated ocean salvage co. , taken malta. british government refused proposal purchase return uk mooring in river thames monument landings because of cost. consequently, repaired @ malta , sold civilian spanish owners. operated tramp steamer in mediterranean, first angela , maruja y aurora. maruja , aurora names of eldest child of each of 2 partners in company, gumersindo junquera blanco , vicente figaredo herrero.


she seized spanish nationalist forces @ santander in august 1937 , used nationalist navy, during time captures steamship margarita. made trips between santander , ferrol, , carried troops between gijon , bilbao. returned former owners 18 months later, resumed previous commercial role, , rescued 3 british airmen during world war ii.


in 1965 there attempt buy , preserve river clyde british government unwilling purchase her, , in 1966 sold £42,000 scrap , broken @ avilés, spain.
