as per 2011 census of india nabagram cd block had total population of 227,586, of rural. there 116,134 (51%) males , 111,452 (49%) females. population below 6 years 28,900. scheduled castes numbered 56,622 (24.88%) , scheduled tribes numbered 16,770 (7.37%).


as per 2001 census, nabagram block has total population of 196,585, out of 100,491 males , 96,074 females. nabagram block registered population growth of 22.75 per cent during 1991-2001 decade. decadal growth district 23.70 per cent.decadal growth in west bengal 17.84 per cent.

in 2011 census, muslims numbered 119,693 , formed 52.59% of population in nabagram cd block. hindus numbered 102,810 , formed 45.17% of population. others numbered 5,083 , formed 2.24% of population. in nabagram cd block while proportion of muslims increased 48.53% in 1991 50.88% in 2001, proportion of hindus declined 50.15% in 1991 47.42% in 2001.


murshidabad district, 1 of 3 muslim majority districts of west bengal, had 4,707,573 muslims formed 66.27% of population, 2,359,061 hindus formed 33.21% of population, , 37, 173 persons belonging other religions formed 0.52% of population, in 2011 census. while proportion of muslim population in district increased 61.40% in 1991 63.67% in 2001, proportion of hindu population declined 38.39% in 1991 35.92% in 2001.


murshidabad muslim majority district in west bengal @ time of partition of india in 1947. proportion of muslims in population of murshidabad district in 1951 55.24%.the radcliffe line had placed muslim majority murshidabad in india , hindu majority khulna in pakistan, in order maintain integrity of ganges river system in india.
