a 150 hp hispano-suiza 8aa water-cooled engine located aft of wings drove 2 blade pusher propeller mounted @ extreme tail, via long shaft. using ventral fin long tail skid protect propeller , short vertical stabilizer, c 1 had no fixed horizontal stabilizer. tricycle landing gear , advanced metal fuselage unusual era. designed have unrestricted forward field of fire, fuselage had 2 large circular windows on each side downward visibility. armament consisted of single 37mm cannon.
its first , flight made in april 1917 @ flight test facilities used farman aviation works , blériot aéronautique in Étampes, france.
the c 1 reached altitude of 25 feet before entering uncontrolled roll before crashing inverted. test pilot survived no further development of type pursued.
